Why Advertising?
A lot of people say, “advertising is my passion.” Me? Guilty.
I’m constantly reading books, blogs, articles, and annuals. Watching movies, listening to podcasts. Visiting art galleries and museums. Scrolling social media… you get the point.
I’m also observant of world around me. Not just with ads, but with the people I see and the things I hear. Because to me, advertising isn’t only about my connection to the world. It’s also about the way my target sees that same world through a completely different set of experiences.
In three words, I love advertising.
Advertising Books
Yes, I’ve read them but don’t quiz me. I don’t test well.
Non-Ad Reading
I own over 750 books and I’m slowly sifting my way through them.
You’re thinking, “Over 700 books? No way.” "
Yes way. See below for my work-in-progress home library featuring some of my collection. I can’t control myself when it comes to books. It’s part of why a career where I use words for a living was the perfect choice.
I’ll end this…
with an ironic, albeit fitting, quote from one of my favourite authors, Oscar Wilde:
“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.”
